We aim to enhance the capacity of rights advocates to act collectively, that is, organizing through activities focused on nonviolent organizing. In the process of organizing, we explore and share ways and methods of building our dream of a nonviolent world. We work towards encouraging organizations to use nonviolent tools and methods that would improve their solidarity.
As part of our nonviolence organizing activities, we translated A Consensus Handbook: Co-operative Decision-making for Activists, Co-ops, and Communities into Turkish, which highlights the principles and values of consensus and gives guidance and suggestions on how to facilitate a consensus process. We also prepared a Brochure for Nonviolent Feedback in Civil Society Organizations to contribute to intra-organizational activities of organizations and encourage them to think about and discuss nonviolent feedback. You can visit our library to access our other sources on nonviolence organizing that we produce in or translate into Turkish.
We organize Nonviolent Organizing Workshops that are tailored to rights advocacy organizations and that promote nonviolent organizing. In the workshops, we discuss what organizations can do for nonviolent organizing and explore nonviolent tools and methods. We have focused so far on subjects such as nonviolence, nonviolent organizing, decision-making, consensus, power, conflict resolution, organizational culture, and group dynamics. A total of 285 people participated in the workshop series we held from 2020 to 2022.
We also engage in intra-organizational activities to strengthen the capacity of organizations to act collectively. By the end of 2023, we worked with a total of 1583 people in our nonviolent organizing workshops.
We continue to conduct research and prepare sources on nonviolent organizing to spread knowledge and organize workshops so that organizations and activists use nonviolence effectively.
“I believe that everyone who completed the workshop underwent some positive personal changes and left with better communication skills. I think we will resolve conflicts within our organizations and with others more easily.”
